Wilderness Medicine Courses for Climbers

Day 1 Arrive Lima.  Your guide will meet you at the airport, and you go immediately to Hotel Las Floras .

2 Bus ride to Huaraz (8-10 hours).  Stay at Hotel El Patio.

3 Market morning, then open-air truck ride to the cordillera El Negro for hiking/acclimatization.

4 Ishinka valley Base Camp Trek (4100m)-today we van ride to Ishinka Valley trek to base camp with full burro support. This stunning valley sits directly under Tocllaraju, Urus, Ishinka, and Ranrapalca.

5 Rest/acclimatize/sun bathe (if the sun is out!).

6 To Ishinka Advanced Base Camp (4800 meters).

7 Acclimatizing

8 Summit Ishinka.  Snow and ice climbing practice. Crevasse rescue procedures learned or refreshed. Return to basecamp better fit, tired, excited.

9 Rest, and pack for Urus.

10 Climb Urus in one day, return to base camp. Pack our things.

11. Pack out to the trailhead; bus ride back to Huaraz for warm shower and celebration.

12. Bus to Lima; flight or hotel.
